Everything on BosforTour’s Bosphorus dinner cruise is in the €24.60 except two things: dinner in four courses, unlimited soft drinks, the eight-act Turkish night show, the DJ and three hours on the water are included; alcohol and the hotel transfer are optional extras.
“All inclusive” is the most stretched phrase in the dinner-cruise trade. It can mean a full evening, or it can mean a meal with every drink, every course after the first and every seat with a view sold separately. So here is the list, written out line by line: what the €24.60 covers, the two things it does not, and the three extras you can add if you want them.
The meal is the backbone of the evening, and it is served in the Turkish order rather than the European one. It opens with ten varieties of cold meze, brought to the table on a shared platter so that the first hour is spent eating slowly and talking, as a Turkish table is meant to. A warm börek follows — savoury layered pastry — and marks the turn from the shared part of dinner to the plated part.
Then each guest has one main course, chosen from four: salmon, sea bass, chicken skewer or beef skewer, each with a seasonal salad and garnish. Partners can choose differently and swap halfway. The meal closes with the house semolina dessert, which arrives, more or less, as the live programme ends.
For guests who do not eat meat or fish, a vegetarian platter — falafel, roasted potatoes, bulgur pilaf, stewed vegetables and onion rings — is made on request at no extra cost; mention it when you book. The cold meze spread is largely vegetarian already. Each course, and the reasoning behind its order, is described on the menu, course by course.
Water, cola, juice and tea are included for every guest and poured for as long as the evening lasts. Nobody is counting glasses and there is no allowance to run out of: “unlimited” here means exactly that, for children and for adults who do not drink alcohol alike.
The Turkish night programme is performed live on the stage, in eight acts: belly dance, the whirling dervish ceremony, Turkish Romani dance, Caucasian dance with the knife show, Turkish folk dances, a rhythm show of live percussion and live violin. The running order changes from night to night, which is why no act is given a clock time.
When the last act is over, a professional DJ takes over the dance floor in front of the stage and keeps it until the boat is back at the pier. Nobody has to dance, and the open decks are there for anyone who would rather watch the shore go by. What each act is, and where it comes from, is on the Turkish night show, explained.
The boat leaves Cibali Pier at 21:00 and slips out of the Golden Horn under the Galata Bridge, which puts the old city and the Galata Tower on either side of you in the first minutes. It runs up the European shore past Dolmabahçe, Çırağan and the Ortaköy Mosque, under the Bosphorus Bridge, past Bebek and the Rumeli Fortress to the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, where it comes about, and returns along the Asian shore past Beylerbeyi, Üsküdar and the Maiden’s Tower. It is back alongside between 23:45 and midnight. The stop-by-stop version is on the route.
The boat is 42 metres long and carries up to four hundred guests in two enclosed salons with panoramic windows — heated in winter, air-conditioned in summer — with open decks at the bow and the stern. There is a bar and free Wi-Fi. Tables are not assigned in advance: you choose yours when you come aboard, from 20:00, so arriving early is the way to a window.
Two things, and both are your choice:
The third optional extra is not a missing piece but an occasion: the romantic table, dressed with candles and flowers for +€15. Everything added up, with worked totals, is on the price page.
There is one package on the boat. The guest who paid €24.60 and the guest at the next table are having the same dinner, the same show and the same view; the only differences between two bookings are the three extras above.
To see the dinner, the show and the boat in pictures before deciding, the main page has them all.
